1. What is your SCA name? Yehoshua Ben Hayyim

2. What time and where do you portray? Holland 1580ish

3. In plain English describe your device.  A yellow field with a stripe and 2 shofars (rams horns). See the icon which is my son wearing his version.

4. How long have you been in the SCA? Since 1992.

5. Do you have any special titles you have earned? AoA, Order de Lindquestring (Drachenwald service)

6. What kingdom and local group do you belong to? Shire of Ma'ale Giborim, Drachenwald border shires

8. What is your war that you look forward to going to every year?Pennsic, one of these days we will make it back

9. Do you hold any offices? Shire herald, I have been shire Senischal as well as Kingdom webmaster for both East and Drachenwald (Actually I started the EK web site)

10. Favorite memory from an event? Oh thats hard, so many good ones, meeting my wife at the first meeting of our shire ranks up there, even if it wasn't really an event. As for an actual event I think heralding the Grand tournie at Pennsic jumps to mind.

11. Are you a fighter? What kind? Not yet, we want to get fighting going here, but haven't gotten there yet.

12. Are you crafty (making things)? Garb, I have tried tablet weaving, of late not much

13. Do you teach classes at events? Sometimes dance.

14. Do you play instruments at events? Can't carry a tune to save my life.

15. Do you dance at events? Sometimes, we don't dance enough here.

18. What is one of the reasons you've remained in the SCA?  Friends, here and there.

19. What peerage(s) do you aspire to? I would like a pelican or to be a baron, but not going to happen any time soon.

20. Who was Crown when you joined the SCA? Gregor I think

21. If you are a Peer, who was the Crown that elevated you? NA (though Elsbeth was queen when I got my AoA)

22. Have you lived in more than 1 kingdom and which ones? East and Drachenwald (twice)

23. Have you helped found a group? Shire of Ma'ale Giborim

24. Have you had any house affiliations? We don't have households out here on the borders, the shire serves as a household more or less.

Purim Sudah Post event comments [Mar. 5th, 2007|08:10 pm]

The purim sudah event went pretty well. I think we had about 20 people most of the normal suspects as well as [info]osewalrus and [info]beckyfeld  and their family. Which was a joy.

The minor bad points, a camera and cell phone seemed to have been lifted from the area in the park we had set up in. We need to find a better event site. On the plus side as we were in a public park we did get a lot of interest from random passers by. I think its a good place for a demo, but we need to find better places for events.

We did two rounds of dance, with Charles and Anne performing for us out of the pennsic pile. (Ya'akov joined in on the drum in the 2nd, D2 was playing it on the first). In the first Dance set we did the Rufty Tufty and the Horse's Braw , in the second we did those two again and added Heart's Ease. In the first set it was me, and [info]kmelion  as well as Ya'akov and Rivka. In the 2nd it was myself and nightface, Gilly and Michal. (Dance notes from Gregory Blunt's Dance Cheat Sheets)

The food was very nice. I liked the stew (Naomi can you post a recipie please).

Bardic went really well, even if it was cut short by impending weather. Ya'akov, thank you again for your songs and poems.

Sir Patri Du Chat Gris KSCA OL OP etc Second Baron Carolingia died on Feb 11th. (MKA Patri Pugliese)
I was never close to Patri but I joined the SCA about when he and Barbara were stepping down as baron and baroness. (In fact I was the herald at the court where they said that they would step down) He was a larger than life figure who seemed to define what it was to be in the SCA and to be Carolingia.
We will not see his like again.
